3rd Annual "Mardi Grawl" a success despite adverse weather

The 3rd Annual "Mardi Grawl" took place on Saturday, February 24. There were approximately 75 participants (it gets hard to keep count after the fourth or fifth bar), and a total of $900 was raised for the Lafayette Urban Ministry (LUM). LUM is a downtown homeless shelter which provides for those in need of a place to sleep and a warm meal.

Despite freezing rain and sleet during much of the crawl, participants braved the walks from venue to venue, where warm feelings and cold drinks made the weather seem almost insignificant. In keeping with the Mardi Gras theme, plenty of beads were made available for the participants, many of whom chose to exchange them through familiar New Orleans traditions. A grand time was had by all. Photos to follow in the coming weeks.

The next crawl will be held on Saturday, May 5. It will be the 3rd Annual "Crawlo de Mayo". Stay tuned for further information as the date approaches.
